NREL Foundation is now the Foundation for the National Laboratory of the Rockies; Appoints Two New Board Members

Updated name reflects alignment with the National Laboratory of the Rockies as the Laboratory’s charitable partner

GOLDEN , CO, UNITED STATES, March 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The NREL Foundation announced today that it has formally changed its name to the Foundation for the National Laboratory of the Rockies, following completion of a revised License Agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy. The Foundation also announced the appointment of Heather Reams and Kian Nobari to its Board of Directors.

The updated name reflects alignment with the National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) and clarifies the Foundation’s role as the Laboratory’s designated charitable foundation.

The Foundation’s mission remains unchanged: to advance an affordable and secure energy future by expanding the impact of NLR’s research and innovation through partnerships and philanthropic support.

Reams brings deep experience in energy policy leadership, nonprofit governance, and energy advocacy. At the same time, Nobari brings a background in finance, investment advisory services, and operational leadership across energy, real estate, and mission-driven organizations. Together, they add valuable perspectives that will support the Foundation’s long-term priorities and strengthen its engagement with philanthropic and strategic partners.
