For most of his career, Redstone worked in the beverage and alcohol industry, building expertise in analytics, software and business intelligence.

"All of my professional career, I've done data and analytics in the beverage and alcohol industry," Redstone said. "I started out in the wine business in Napa Valley, and then we became a global company and did a lot of travel. Around 2012, one of my former coworkers started a company and I stayed at that startup for 15 years. Private equity bought us right near the end of COVID. The environment changed significantly, and it was about four years into that tenure that we started talking about making a change."

That conversation ultimately led Redstone and his wife, a vice president of finance with an accounting background, to franchise ownership. While exploring opportunities, Redstone evaluated several business models, from retail to shipping. BooXkeeping quickly stood out because of its low-overhead, service-based model and the chance to leverage relationships he had already built in the local business community.

"In the startup world, I got pretty used to doing work that wasn't quite as structured as corporate work, so business ownership felt like a natural next step," he said. "We started looking at franchise opportunities, but the financing required for an inventory-based business or brick-and-mortar business was a lot. We've been in this community for over eight years, and I know many businesses and referral companies that could benefit from better bookkeeping. So, we decided to go with BooXkeeping."

Redstone was equally impressed by the franchise's established support system. "I have to do certain things to keep the business running, but the infrastructure is already in place,” he said. “They have an accounting system and all of the technical tools that I need. There's a deep-dive training program, sales coaching, executive coaching and a lot of people I have access to. It's also a small enough company where I can have a direct impact on the culture and really fit in."

BooXkeeping specializes exclusively in bookkeeping services, helping businesses stay financially organized year-round through monthly reporting, catch-up bookkeeping and ongoing financial management.

Redstone believes that focus fills a significant need throughout Northern Colorado's business community. "Every community is in need of bookkeeping," he said. "A solo bookkeeper isn't going to have a whole lot of opportunity to do marketing and PR. There is a brand here that I can market, and they're helping to market it as well."

Over the next year, Redstone plans to build a client base of approximately 30 to 40 small and medium-sized businesses by offering competitive pricing and delivering insights that extend beyond balancing the books.

"My entire career has been about presenting accurate data to businesspeople," Redstone said. "I also have a lot of skills for data analysis and can help provide insights into how to run the business better."

Outside of work, Redstone has become deeply involved in the Northern Colorado community through youth athletics, further strengthening the relationships he hopes will help grow his business. "I'm heavily involved in the swim community here," he said. "I have a young daughter, and I support the club as a volunteer and also have an officiating certification through USA Swimming. I’ve been involved in the community long enough that I feel I bring a unique perspective to businesses here."

As he establishes BooXkeeping throughout Northern Colorado, Redstone looks forward to becoming a trusted financial resource for local entrepreneurs.
